The jacarandas have bloomed, the late nights and the stress of assignments and exams have passed, and ¿ì²¥É«ÇéƬ is celebrating the graduation of more than 8070 students across 22 ceremonies.
Since ¿ì²¥É«ÇéƬ’s first graduation ceremony for two women and three men 105 years ago, the University has conferred degrees on more than 264,000 graduates – including more than 14,000 PhDs.
¿ì²¥É«ÇéƬ Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Peter Høj said that graduations are the highlight of the academic year, and a pivotal point in the lives of our students.
“As Queensland’s first university, ¿ì²¥É«ÇéƬ has been crucial to the growth, advancement and prosperity of our state and the nation,” Professor Høj said.
“Our graduates have come from all across Australia and almost every nation on Earth, bringing with them unique ideas and perspectives.
“On graduating they become a part of our alumni community, an impressive cohort that creates positive change for the communities and nations in which they reside.
Professor Høj said graduates would leave ¿ì²¥É«ÇéƬ with the resilience to manage the uncertainties ahead as new technology and innovation lead to entirely new career paths.
