¿ì²¥É«ÇéƬ was recently recognised with a prestigious Pride in Diversity national award for our commitment to inclusivity and support for LGBTQIA+ communities.

¿ì²¥É«ÇéƬ received a "Gold Employer" award for 2022 in the (AWEI), which is Australia’s definitive national benchmark on LGBTQIA+ workplace inclusion.

¿ì²¥É«ÇéƬ achieved ‘Silver Employer’ awards for the last two years and ‘Bronze Employer’ awards for at least three years prior to this.

This ranks ¿ì²¥É«ÇéƬ in the top 10% of employers nationally, placing us in the top 20 organisations in Australia for our work on LGBTQIA+ inclusion.

Director of Student Employability and ¿ì²¥É«ÇéƬ Ally Action Committee Co-Chair, Dr Dino Willox said the award positioned ¿ì²¥É«ÇéƬ as one of Australia’s highest performing employers for LGBTQIA+ inclusion.

“We are the only Queensland university to receive a Gold award and remain within the top 3 scores for universities across Australia,” Dr Willox said.

“Being awarded Gold Employer in the Australian Workplace Equality Index is a huge achievement and we are incredibly proud.

“However, the work doesn’t end here, and we – the Ally Action Committee and the 800 staff who form the ¿ì²¥É«ÇéƬ Ally Network - will continue to ensure LGBTQIA+ inclusion remains front and centre at ¿ì²¥É«ÇéƬ, creating a welcoming environment where people can belong, be celebrated, and thrive.”
